Should I Rescue or Adopt?

This can be quite a heated topic in the bunny community. Should I adopt or buy from a pet store or breeder? To be honest, I have different opinions on this topic too. I am not against breeders, as long as they are responsible and it would almost be hypocritical of me to say if I was against them because I had my own accidental litter.

Honestly, let's start with the pro's of adopting.

You are saving a bunny! There would be so much joy just to be able to say that! You are also giving that bunny the home that it has been waiting for! A bunny that comes from a shelter has so much love to give, all bunnies do! You are also supporting a bunny rescue that is most likely non-profit! Saving that bunny, they are able to go save more! One of the biggest things is that the rabbit is most likely already spayed/neutered so you might not have to go through the stress of that!

Pro's of buying from a breeder.

You know the bunny's health history, exact date of birth, etc. This might not be very important to you at all, which personally for me it isn't. But some days I do wish I could know what my bunnies parents health history was like. (they are not from breeders.) You know where your bunny came from, you know what the genetics are, etc. I am in no way shape or form trying to promote breeding more than adopting but, realistically, it is an option.

I would honestly personally adopt before buying but, it is totally 100% up to you. With some shelter's the bunnies are in great care but, it does probably take a lot more time and effort to keep them that way, which is why I will always encourage you to #adoptdontshop but, I think its your personal preference. I got Reese from a pet store and I wouldn't change it for the world because Reese is my whole world and at the end of the day, as long as you provide your bunny the proper necessities, you're all good, however I do not recommend buying from a pet store, if anything buy from a responsible breeder or adopt because that's the best option!
